Arctic Cat engines fitted with APV power valves should have their cables checked at least every 1000 miles and adjusted as needed. The cable lengths should be as follows: 2003 Firecat 700: 37.15mm (1.462†) 2004 Firecat 700: 34.5mm (1.35†) 2003 ZR/MC 800 & 900: 30.6mm (1.20†) 2004 ZR/MC 800 & 900: 38.5mm (1.51†).
1/26/2007 · It will go! I just spent $500 on a cylinder and pistons and rings! Fixed it this weekend. I had already put shims in this year, but the damage was already done. I put the valves right next to the piston and sure enough, there were two grooves right where the valve would hit it. I noticed that the valve can rock back and forth a little bit.
11/22/2008 · Now, this portion of the knife being cut back (more than the other side) makes the lower Flat portion of the vavle Body shorter. so the Shorter portion of the valve Body does go down. the link posted just above is excellent. click on the pictures to see them clearly. valves installed upside down alone will not cause piston contact.
