I found that ImageJ with the plugin drop _analysis can do this with either the so-called LB-ADSA or the DropSnake method. As my samples are not completely leveled, I think the DropSnake method will work best.

2/6/2007 · Thanks, Wayne. I copied and pasted tool.jar to C:Program Filesjavajdk1.5.0_04jrelibext, then compile and run function works. Yesterday, I only added tools.jar to the build path in Eclipse. Somehow that did not work. Also I noticed the IDE-generated .class files had no functions. For those plugin java files, I need to compile and run from ImageJ first.
